Mephisto Design Automation is a privately held company commited to deliver state-of-the-art analog design automation solutions by supplying excellent software tools and accompanying consultancy services. MDA was founded on 1 December 2005.

Expertise

Mephisto Design Automation has extensive experience with the design, design automation and optimization of analog, mixed-signal and custom digital integrated circuits, including feasibility studies and trade-off analysis.

Background

Mephisto Design Automation is a technology spin-off company of the K.U.Leuven - MICAS laboratories which are supervised by Prof. W. Sansen, founder and head of the research lab for over 35 years.

Two of the founders of Mephisto Design Automation, Kenneth Francken and Martin Vogels, conducted their Ph.D. research in the design methodologies group of MICAS which has been led by Prof. G. Gielen for over 18 years. Jan Decaluwe, co-founder and Vice-President Business Development, complements the team with experience in high-tech start-ups. He co-founded the digital design services company Easics. The founders have a combined experience of over 16 years in analog and mixed-signal design and design methodologies.

In 2003, Kenneth Francken and Martin Vogels received support from IWT-Vlaanderen for commercializing their research work. With the support of SO Kwadraat Mephisto Design Automation was founded on 1 December 2005.

Shareholders

Apart from the founders and the University, Mephisto Design Automation got venture capital funding from Allegro Investment Fund.
