Martin received his Masters degree in Electrical Engineering
from the Technical University of Eindhoven in 1997. During his studies there,
he went to the University of Vigo, Spain for a four month project on
the design of E-class amplifiers. The subject of his masters thesis was
modeling and simulation of a Phase-Locked Loop (PLL) using
HDL-A. This work was performed at Alcatel Microelectronics, Belgium.
From September 1997 to September 2003, he was a research assistant
at the ESAT-MICAS laboratory of the
Katholieke Universiteit Leuven, in Leuven Belgium. He obtained his
Ph.D. degree from the same university in September 2003.
His Ph.D. research was carried out under supervision of Prof. Georges Gielen.
From 2003 to 2005, before co-founding Mephisto Design Automation, he held a post-doctoral
research grant from IWT-Vlaanderen to commercialize his research work.
